Our To Do List

Yellow Butterfly Illustration

Protection of Biodiversity

With lots of native vegetation in the ground (and that means small, medium and large) we have a better chance of protecting our wildlife and waterways.

We're up to Stage Two of our Fish Creek Catchment Project that aims to 'connect the dots' and create corridors of biodiversity from one patch to another.

We are supporting SGLN in implementing the South Gippsland Biodiversity Protection Plan

Monitor and Control Pests

We count, we control and we count again. Whether it's foxes to be eradicated or lyrebirds to be protected, we need to know where they are and get the data. Citizen scientists, we need you!

Help us come up with a cunning plan to stop deer, foxes and noxious weeds from taking over the situation.

Build a Strong Landcare Community

We want to get connected - to people who live in the area, to farmers working the land and also the many local environmental agencies to help build the 'critical mass' to really gets things done.

Join us so we can build our membership and our reach, with meetings, activity days, getting our hands dirty and brainpower engaged with our mission.

Improve Water Quality

Fencing off waterways so that water can run clear and clean into the Tarwin River and Andersons Inlet is something we want to see happen right along our catchments. We test water quality and look for signs of rehabilitation after fencing and planting. Are you good at finding frogs?

Using the latest advice from Ag Vic on fertilisers and educating the community is also part of our overall mission.

Getting Together

There are so many ways to jump in and join us in what we do - you can try planting days, learning about new land management practices, planning at our meeting, surveying and recording animal populations and promoting the group's work at public events.

Regular meetings are held bi-monthly, usually at the Fish Creek Pub. We organise workshops, farm tours and speakers and can advise you on planting at your property.

Building a community is important, so we collaborate and join with other local organisations to develop events and activities, supporting each other in our endeavours.

Keep an eye on our EVENTS section to see announcements or submit your details and we'll keep you across what's happening.

The South Gippsland Landcare Network is the main administrative body of our region's Landcare organisation.

If you'd like to see more about the activities and projects across the region's various groups, head to the SGLN website for a lot more detail and resources.

The Fish Creek Landcare group acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the Fish Creek Landcare area and pays respect to their past and present Elders. We honour and celebrate their spiritual, cultural and customary connection to country and the biodiversity that forms part of that country.
